Werewolf Sonata If you are reading this and do not own this album yet stop everything and buy it now. You can thank me later. This album is special. Listening to it will give you an out of body experience. Well done Megaton Sword! Favorite track: Raikaszi.
Sojourner

Sojourner While I was disappointed by their debut album, 'Might & Power' marks a return to the form of their debut EP. Powerful, triumphant heavy metal which - despite the band's image - never sounds cheesy. Favorite track: The Raving Light of Day.

I swig from hallowed ground. This beast is gonna make it And ride your caitiff lives. The fields: vacant graves That chide the hoggish leech. I’m the one who takes it all, The raving light of day. I see you’re bloody frail. The sort that makes me revel, Cane in, suck up the foam. I heard there’s no one there To teach the only truth: I’m the one that shines forever, The raving light of day. Addled, but not to blame. Everywhere I go blood drowns my trail. Benign rule: tired eyes dream on. For the piously raving Won’t decay. Pick the side! Cut up these fools and fight! The bitch knows no shame. They seek it in our wells. I’m the one defiant heart, The raving light of day. Suit yourselves! My drooling right: Preaching from the grave. You seek a better, you seek a decent life? Hear my counsel, I must know, I’m the raving light of day. Addled, but not to blame. Everywhere I go blood drowns my trail. Benign rule: tired eyes dream on. For the piously raving Won’t decay. We read it in your face: Bloomed, so weak, it all decays. In your rule, in my heart, Wish you the best, make it a start. They only maim When you’re lonely. One day we will see you there. On a warded isle, Rotten and frail, One can always hear you pray. Bleat! I’m not to blame. Everywhere I go blood drowns my trail. Benign rule, lift the darkest veil! For the piously raving Won’t decay! Addled, but not to blame. Everywhere I go blood drowns my trail. Benign rule: tired eyes dream on. For the piously raving Won’t decay. I’ll stay and wheeze: “Hail the Fane! Pick up your entrails! More to see, Ailing love comes your way. I won’t decay.”

Iron Plains 05:53
Grab your bracelet. Hope you will forgive. Ain’t no time to save you. Hold my breath as they… Rush past this damp den. Beat myself alive. Stopped the bleeding. Now run! Get out of here! Who’s the last? I call you to my side. Eat flowers on your path! I cannot have you blind all the time. Lest you fail me, my dear. Dazed; time is flying. And I, I watch you As you’re crossing iron plains. Light stings my eyes. I weep and stumble on. Cave roof’s collapsed. From ray-streaked ruins, Your temple beams at me. They can’t close in, so take it easy now. Fool of great insight, Unbroken guard, awake all night. So still and silent? Must be gone; woken by rain. Now – did I die? Who’s the last? I call you to my side. Eat flowers on your path! I cannot have you blind all the time. Lest you fail me, my dear. Dazed; Time is flying. And I, I watch you Crossing iron plains. The creep of night. You heal. The sleep is mine. Found your lair, feel not a single limb: I just see things differently. Oh, bold vertigo! Who’s the last? I call you to my side. Eat flowers on your path! I cannot have you blind all the time. Lest you fail me, my dear. Dazed; Time is flying. And I, I watch you As you’re crossing iron plains.

Power 04:30
Hush, while I hold what will heal, Show me the truth I can find in thee. Your kidney’s all and I need it. All, so much to bear. From a rise, death cries echo my mirth. You weep, you call for the knife. But we are here to strive, alright? Teach me what has come before, Or better still, be fain to gain me some real… Power! A sea of blood, place your bet. Tonight, we are born. Our power’s unmatched: To the power to fight Add the power of the mind. We are brimful of steel and our power is real. Your friends, our feast, a well unending. Charred bones will make us see you. Hide, shudder when the sky’s deep blue. Brewer, in dearth, we call on you. Paths to glory Lead from the gut to the mind. How I savor the time when I pry loose a truth, Knowing with the next sip I will gain some real… Power! A sea of blood, place your bet. Tonight, we are born with powers unmatched: To the power to fight Add the power of the mind. We are brimful of steel, only power is real. Power, mhhh, power, sweet power, power, power. To the power I feel, your loins are stalled. For the power, sweet might, I’d wreck you all. To the hearts of the stalwart, who kill with foresight, I will send this benevolent load. My friends, l call for… Power! A sea of blood, place your bet. Tonight, we are born with powers unmatched: To the power to fight Add the power of the mind. We are brimful of steel and our power is real.

Watched me set fire to the Fane You didn’t care to breach. Too bold, daring, bleaching bones at dawn. I came to crush them utterly. Tortured, the crest of rage Burns hot and true. All your games exposed. Unmasked your poor betrayals, bring carnage, Cannot dissolve within My woe. One day I woke up with the might of pain. Since then, the tears tingle, coated with glory. And all your wails testify that I’m still half alive. Thus, I wade through the dimmest darkness And find there’s no tar. Lament, go mope, get mauled quickly, But your grimmest sigh reveals that cowards remain. Another door kicked in, Laid waste to the shacks, Faces need breaking. The jewel tracks your reek. And don’t cant, don’t waste no lies on me Under the gauge, red-eyed. From the murk, stopped cold, cut deep, Now I read from bloodstained walls: You have Gone. At dawn, arrange the lumps on lifeless streets, Cause there, the tears tingle, coated with glory. Somewhere, you fear the waking hours. I won’t spare no one. Find me where the rooks are circling And see there’s no tar at hand, no hope, my deceiver, But the sateless sigh of a coward.

Raikaszi 04:40
I stare at the blood on my blade, Still hot but comes to naught, Creeps on, listlessly, No caring glance for me. Slippery floor: may I add some more gore? Let me cut the last wimp down but then brother, please: Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Where the slaughter was pure, made a difference to me. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Take me to the distant shore now! Anytime we hunt them down, my heart beats leisurely along. Elation’s gone; boredom, come! Brother, I beg you: don’t kill them one by one. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Where the slaughter was pure, made a difference to me. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Take me to the distant shore now! Amidst the bogs, in mist and fog, Hides our price, stashed where no one goes. I can’t incite my rage, it’s a grind, Can’t go back to when I was all ablaze. Let’s ride soon, they’re next to gone and you know that you own her. I must go, blasted heights, but I owe you this; can’t say goodbye. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Where the slaughter was pure, made a difference to me. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Take me to the distant shore now! Stare at my blade, The blood’s still hot but comes to naught, Just creeps so listlessly Towards a splattered floor. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Where the slaughter was pure, made a difference to me. Can you take me back to Raikaszi? Take me to the distant shore now! So stiff, they lie; just some wasted time.

“Vile will denied. Discarnate, cannot rise. This gem’s all I grant you.” Final words were fading fast, Burst apart. Unwitnessed wrath. Vaunt the liars and the thieves! When I awoke from misty dreams. I believed they’d come for me, All the liars and the thieves. More soul. More ruin. More fame. The clarion’s clangorous tale Shakes me sane. Roar the claim: The moon is right, and more, all wicked schemes: unite! The womb! I will live! Vile will denied? My teat’s the wheel of time. Today’s the day. My cage just broke for good. Blank face, serene. I yearn for her with greed, To coyly penetrate that slumbrous mind, Poke deep. She drifts on mere debris. And her shadows are my shadows. Yet they float on languidly. More souls, More pangs, Sweet chime. I take – it is the right of time. Drift and fail. At last amazed. The moon is right, and more, all wicked schemes unite. The womb! I will live. Nearby they glow dimly. Hear the squealing sounds as they join our body With wry praise, Filled with cold purpose. Couch! Dine with me! Sudden pain befalls me. A noose waiting for me. Now I feel it, The dread, A singular threat: Endless agony, The will. I can’t deny her… More ruin, More fame. The clarion’s clangorous tale Shakes me sane. Roar the claim: The moon is right, and more, all wicked schemes: unite! The womb! I will live!

Might 04:28
Might, uh! Our Rovers, I see, All stand proud tonight while You kneel In the blood bath. Don’t worry, we’re true, Still know when it’s time to rise from lone delirious fires, Mark our game, and strike… To kill Gods and tyrants, Burning with true, Üygian might! Feast well, ere you are so foolish As to cross our realm. We will need to Roast you over the fire. Cold is the spit Impaling you for… Might! True Üygian might From booze and gore! The cleavers Chop deep. Most splendid butcher’s knives. You’re done. You’ll miss your last bath. Don’t worry, we’re true, Still know when it’s time to yank you from the blazing fire, Mark our game, and strike … To kill Gods and tyrants, Burning with true, Üygian might! Feast well, ere you ever return to Our most quiet realm. We will Flay skins and stir the fire. Savory gifts Open the gate to… Might! True Üygian might From booze and gore! Trespassers, we gang up. We shine splendidly. We are the colors of the rainbow. And while we rivet your skins, Rooba brings us might from gore. Knock twice, Brains ooze onto my feet. One more time, hands sink deeper still. When we gather All we need is meat and… Might! True Üygian might From booze and gore! Then we freak out, Asteroids form a breach. We got them, all your memories. Turd, we need only blood Just see, it’s… Might! True Üygian might From booze and gore!

Babe Eternal 05:26
One day, on my track to the shore, Was brooding over you. A day to peel open the wound. When it hit, a single flame: Peel off the wound! That’s better: weak belief. I play. I am the will. No suffering’s too hard. You must be mine. Hail the cunning! Always spry! Behind mine eyes hide Shadows of eons. I walk Till I dance Upon the graves of tools, abhorred. Behold my babe, no dust, eternal her parts. Ooh, I would not dare to dissent. Look at that face, smooth and long! Damn, that mask suits the shell! Invincible, astute of sense. Now I must hold back one tear. I will forgive my soft side And I touch everything. It’s clear: She’s Mine! Darling, You’re with me all night. Do you mind My weathered face? She’s hot and I’d rather die. Divert time. I wield a knife And lay down As I would on the morrow. I sigh. Will it ever arrive? Ooah! I’ll leave ’em all dead. And may the dust host their keeps. Cut the lines in shade! Let them grovel! Behind mine eyes hide Shadows of eons. I walk Till I dance Upon the graves of tools, abhorred. Behold my babe, no dust, eternal her parts. Ooh, I would not dare to dissent. Look at my face, sick and long! Damn, that mask! Need the shell! Invincible, astute of sense. Now I can’t hold back lewd tears. She won’t berate my soft side. And I touch everything, make clear: She’s Mine! Yes, I’ll take that ride. Then wave me a goodbye, lost souls! The ships hover. Hold my post! I need to take off With a light-rose At full speed. Bleed, dazzled mind! What do I care With a full metal spine? Lustrous, I’ll reign for all time. I cannot die.

about

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present MEGATON SWORD’s highly anticipated second album, Might & Power, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Since their auspicious birth in 2018, there’s been no stopping Switzerland’s MEGATON SWORD. As if their very moniker was a prescient stroke of genius – or, rather, a self-fulfilling prophecy – the once-quartet arrived fully formed with their glorious debut EP, Niralet, in 2019 via DYING VICTIMS. Here, virtually without warning, they evinced an ages-old sound that was wise (and wizened) well beyond their young years. Already, MEGATON SWORD knew the mystery of steel…and wielded it with a startling confidence. Which made their debut album the next year, Blood Hails Steel – Steel Hails Fire, all the more shocking: MEGATON SWORD somehow revealed new twists to that mystery of steel, and further evinced a charisma that was star-power writ large. Again released by DYING VICTIMS, it was no shock that Blood Hails Steel – Steel Hails Fire was hailed far and wide. And yet still, it seemed MEGATON SWORD were only getting started…

And they’re not finished – not by a long shot – as testified by their second album, Might & Power. Almost absurdly titled in its elegant simplicity, Might & Power might seem on the surface a reiteration of their true-as-steel HEAVY METAL, and to a large degree, that’s correct – MEGATON SWORD are still drunk on high fantasy and the enduring themes of conquest and valor, triumph and tragedy – but the deceptively expansive album sees the now-quintet stretching their sturdy sound in directions more dynamic and extreme. When was the last time you heard actual blastbeats on a true-metal album? Well, you’ll certainly find ‘em here on Might & Power and probably not bat an eyelash, for MEGATON SWORD wield all their weapons effortlessly. What about ‘70s singer-songwriter melodrama, plaintive piano and all? Same here: while far more subtle, the integration of softer, rock-oriented textures makes their metal all the more enduring – and exciting. For if there’s one guiding theme that earmarks Might & Power as MEGATON SWORD’s arguably greatest recording, it’s that the drama is windswept but undeniably human, in all its myriad hues; this may be heavy metal after all, but it’s not “only heavy metal.” Put another way, MEGATON SWORD so deeply understand that mystery of steel that they know when to sheath their (sonic) swords and offer a weathered hand, gently raising up their fallen comrades. Much credit goes to vocalist Uzzy Unchained, whose pipes poignantly narrate this evocative shift.

With no hyperbole intended, MEGATON SWORD are no longer on the march. They have truly reached the halls of greatness with Might & Power. Hearing is believing, but it just might bring you to tears.
